I created the branding for Rvali, a wrestling camp in Georgia. The name Rvali refers to a metal alloy in Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani’s dictionary and is used in The Knight in the Panther’s Skin to symbolize an unbreakable spirit. Inspired by this, I based the identity on the iconic duel between a knight and a tiger from the poem- a powerful representation of strength, resilience, determination, and willpower, while also literally depicting a wrestling match.
The project is also personal to me. The sculpture that inspired the logo was enlarged by my grandfather, Sergo, who developed an innovative sculpture enlargement technique and worked on many of Georgian sculptor Elguja Amashukeli’s most iconic monuments, including The Panther and the Youth, which became the inspiration for this brand.
